Welcome to the Vets Listening Sessions conversation

Vets Listening Sessions is a volunteer project of persons interested in providing for military veterans an opportunity to be heard about the experience of military service, the emotional pain of combat and war, as well as the challenges they face when returning home.

These volunteers include therapists, counselors, veterans, civilians, theologians, nurses, educators, and many other occupations and interests.

The purpose of this blog is to provide an opportunity for the "listeners" to discuss the process of providing listening sessions, their challenges in listening, resources for listeners and veterans and other information and insights.

We welcome your comments and questions.

Vet's Listening 'leaders' met on October 25th; it was good to gather thoughts and energy. This is definitely a cause worth persevering... Our next step will be to bring some concrete structure to our efforts by defining roles/committees for future efforts. I'd like to share a comment by Michael Orban:
"Yesterdays meeting on vets listening sessions was very productive.
We started with a great idea and now see how to make that idea
come to life.
Years ago I saw a very young girl and her lemonade stand set up on a cul-de-sac.
With no traffic I am sure her disappointment was painful. The idea was great but
the promotion lacking. Rather than quit, the lemonade stand could have been moved
to the main road. This is how I feel about yesterdays meeting. The idea is great, has learned
and can now move to the main drag."
